How to help clear open pores that have scarred: these tips are also helpful for pitted and atrophic scars

beauty tips for scarred skinWhen you look at open pores closely under a magnifying lamp, they appear even and have a circular shape. From time to time I will see open pores with an irregular shape, and occasionally I see two or more pores merge together. This is the result of the skin not healing evenly after the pores have been damaged from breakouts or physical injury like squeezing.

One way to avoid this problem is to avoid squeezing your pimples, and treat breakouts with the appropriate skin care products. However, once the damage has been done, there are treatments to soften the scarring and smooth the skin.

To improve scarring, you need to smooth the skin, promote skin healing and regeneration and boost collagen production
Here are a few options:

Cosmetics:
- regularly exfoliating the skin can help soften the scarring. Look for serums and nightly treatment creams that utilize a combination of glycolic acid with salicylic acid
- retinol based products help with resurfacing and boost collagen production
- vitamin C products help also boost collagen production, and minimize brown spots such as post-inflammatory hyper pigmentation
Microdermabrasion can help smooth and soften scarring
Cosmetic procedures:
- microdermabrasion helps soften and smooth the skin, great non-invasive option for people with mild scarring
- in clinic AHA and /or BHA peels work at a deeper level producing more dramatic results
- skin needling is gaining great popularity as one of the best and most efficient treatments for scarring, especially helpful for pitted scarring
- Fraxel laser is an alternative to skin needling, combined with laser resurfacing, it smooths the skin and boost collagen production, but not all skins can tollerate this treatment
IPL resurfacing in the right hands can also help improve mild scars- IPL resurfacing in the right hands can also help improve mild scars
- clinical dermabrasion is a procedure performed in a surgery by a doctor to treat many skin conditions, it is carried out under a general anesthetic and can include intensive laser, a deep acid peel, or a combination of an acid and a wire brush so remove the upper layers of the skin

The treatment will greatly depend on how deep your scarring is, and how much your skin can tolerate. A professional consultation with a dermatologist or a qualified skin care expert will help you determine the best course of action for your skin.
